When picking out a institution, more expensive doesn’t imply more desirable, and your Psychology school search in United States should not depend upon only the pricetag. In truth, you might get the wrong instruction and be qualified for a Psychology profession that will lead you to a work wilderness. Equally, choosing the most low-cost Psychology school is probably not good for you, making it important to select the correct one while it will impact who you become, the quality of your daily life and how you’ll experience professional developments in the foreseeable future.

There are a few respectable Psychology schools in United States, several well-known plus some less known, waiting for the spotlight. You will start off by acquiring guides as well as other reference materials at the neighborhood library. Additionally, it may be helpful to talk with folks who suffer from been educated at the Psychology school that you intend on looking at, or possibly consult the school’s enrollment specialists who will surely lend a hand and will be keen to have you signed up as a pupil. A lot of people also look up numerous Psychology schools on the web to see related evaluations. Various other would-be pupils could eventually desire to travel to the institution to get an idea of what it is really like.

In general, choose wisely and sign up for a Psychology school that strives for substance and superiority.

You can pick up an advanced degree in psychology while finding yourself. If you want to do a thesis on meditation, UFOs, anything multiculti or mildly out there this is the place. What other grad school has their own gong, garden, and dojo for martial arts training–plus a meditation space. Revolves around a spiritual/experiential brand of psychology that puts the emphasis on life changing events or happenings. Roots in Wilbur, Jung. Basically this is a sort of hippie place all grown up. They have an unbelievable library to with everything you can’t get together anywhere else. It is a very safe place to explore ideas that are not mainstream and perhaps find a little spiritual transformation. Although I am close to a staffer there and not a student, these are dedicated people doing good things. The only negative is price so be sure you have to do this or if you can make a reasoned decision about borrowing money in the hopes of making a living at psychology.

TC is expensive. The education programs are excellent from what I’ve heard. The psychology departments are good, but the large enrollment of the M.A. programs lend a “degree mill” sense I don’t care for. Organizational psychology gets the best bang for the buck – I’m not sure the M.A. in clinical psych would be worth the price (see Carissa’s post). I attend at a discount, but I would consider the cost (as well as living in NYC) very carefully before coming. That being said, I really enjoy my particular program (M.A. Organizational Psychology) and am very happy I have come.

it’s kinda hard to write a review for an entire university, but i’ll give mine from the point-of-view i’ve developed at hbu. i graduated from my undergraduate studies at louisiana state university with a bachelor of science in psychology, knowing full-well that i’d have to go on to graduate school in order to do what i wanted. my husband…well, fiance at the time…had already been accepted into med school here in houston, so i set out to find a degree program that fit my needs here in the city. after looking around, i discovered that hbu had a reputable master of arts program in psychology, with an emphasis on counseling. I am now 3/4 through the program, and the experience i’ve had has been pretty amazing. the school is relatively small, which is exactly what i wanted in a graduate school, and the advisors and professors are able to focus a lot of attention on the individual students. meaning, they actually know your name, how far you are in the program, and any concerns you choose to voice. the campus and materials are state of the art and modern, although you will be paying for it since it is a private school. the faculty is extremely knowledgable and concerned with student learning. overall, i am extremely happy that i chose hbu for my graduate studies. i do not know that i would have been happy in such a small school for my undergrad years, though. if you’re into a very personal, individual setting for your education, however, this is the place to be!
